It was a leisure trip from Ernakulam, we did catch a KSRTC Bus from Ernakulam South Stand to Alappuzha on morning 5.45, we reached Alappuzha on 7.30, had a strong tea and waits for Chmbakkulam route bus, within 5 minutes we got the bus and that was a 45 minutes journey from Alappuzha to Chambakkulam and its the final stop. On the saw some super scenery which remembered my old days on Ranipuram Hill station in my native place Kasaragod. Sharp 8.30 We reached Chambakkulam, a nice village, we just headed towards boat jetty, In mind I said Woww.... awesome, exactly it was, the local peoples were showed up by their own boats or boat services.
After sometime our tour mate Berly had come by his bike with friends, we were so hungry, he took us to a local hotel there, the owner was very much talkative and provided delicious breakfast, Egg curry with Appam, it really kicked started our day. After that we walked for 5 minutes to near bridge to take the skiff.
It was a wonderful experience, We started well with full of laughs and happiness, Berly the local men himself taken the control of it. Started slowly and i was very excited so i took the pangayam (Paddle ) even the sniff motorized. I was very busy by taking photos to keep this memory forever. Center of the lake with strong breeze i would say 'the most memorable trip of my life'.
After sometime it was so hot so we switched our old skiff with a house boat. Berli brought food and we sailed through the beauty of Chambakkulam backwaters, we saw many foreigners in our journey, that also remembered me Kerala tourism and how well its improved last few years. Last week I did attended a KTM ( Kerala Travel Mart ) meeting which also discussed the different ways to improve Kerala tourism and its infrastructure, also sustainable and ways to keep the places clean. Enjoying the beauty of the nature is a great thing, but don’t intent to pollute the water by any means, if someone does others also follows.
At-last we are planned to have the taste of Nadan Kallu along with Beef Kappa and Beef fry ( Coconut Wine – a sweet non alcoholic beverage derived from fresh sap ). It made the trip even more thrilled, we side the boat and got 4 Bottles of fresh Coconut Wine. We were so hungry and planned to have food. Shared food with Drink, there’s no words for the food Kappa with Beef so tasty. I was so curious to taste Coconut Wine, it was sugary and tasty had a sip and continued journey. We just look around and enjoyed the beauty nature has given for us.
Then we return back to Chambakkulam with same boat and reached there on 2.30PM. We did handshake with Berlin and some of his friends and said see you next time, ill definitely visit this god gifted place again, and got a return bus to Alappuzha right at that time from Chambakkulam. No words for KSRTC bus, It’s so fast and they don’t miss any gutter on road so you should take care of yourself. We reached Alappuzha with in time and took Guruvayoor bus to Ernakulam.
