Thailand cuts On arrival visa fee for 19 countries

Thai Cabinet approved a new plan, for on arrival Visa fee for tourists from 19 countries, 1st Dec to 28th February next year. The move is to get maximum tourist flow to the country. Specially the scheme will boost travel during peak season.

19 countries eligible for the Visa-fee waiver comprise of Andorra, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, San Marino, Romania, Mauritius, Malta, Maldives, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, India, Ethiopia, Cyprus and Bhutan.

Those 19 countries citizens needed to pay THB 1000 (Thai Bhut ) fee to process a visa at Thai Embassies or Consular Offices. India, Saudi Arabia, China are the main three markets should benefit the most by this move.

The On arrival Visa rate was increased this year September 27 from THB ( Thai Bhut ) 1000 to THB 2000 will be reduced to THB 1000 for 19 countries. The visa valid for 15 days.
First 9 months of this year Thailand is attracted over 7.31 million Chinese tourists, 895,880 Indians, 416,010 Taiwanese and 19582 Saudi Arabians. By this move they could add 357,362 visits during the three month peak period.

Also the officials claim that it will create 62,429 job opportunities, increase government tax revenue by THB 1,247 million and increase Visa-on-arrival fee revenue by THB 1,920 million.
